p align="JUSTIFY"bPopulation increased by 90,980 persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The province of Bohol had a total population of 1,230,110 persons as of August 1, 2007, which is larger by 8.0 percent compared to the census count of 1,139,130 persons as of May 1, 2000. These figures translated to an annual population growth rate of 1.06 percent for the period 2000 to 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population of Bohol in 2007 was 1,227,809 persons, an increase of 7.9 percent from 1,137,775 persons in 2000. The number of households, meanwhile, increased by 13.6 percent from 213,215 in 2000 to 242,307 in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 5.1 persons, lower than the average household size of 5.3 persons in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bTagbilaran City remained at the top in terms of population size/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the 47 municipalities and 1 city of Bohol, Tagbilaran City, which is the provincial capital, had the biggest population size in 2007, comprising 7.5 percent of the total population of the province. This was followed by the municipalities of Ubay (5.4 percent) and Talibon (4.8 percent). These were also the top three areas in the province in 2000 in terms of population size. The municipality of Sikatuna (0.5 percent) was at the bottom in 2007 while it was the municipality of Corella at the tail in 2000./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"bSex ratio at 103 males per 100 females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"There were more males than females in the province in 2007 with a sex ratio of 103 males for every 100 females. In 2000, the sex ratio was 101 males for every 100 females./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMedian age increased to 22 years/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the median age of the household population of the province was 22 years, which means that half of the household population were below 22 years old. This is higher when compared to median age of 21 years in 2000./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"Children in the ages 5 to 9 years comprised the largest age group, posting 12.4 percent of the total household population, followed closely by age groups 0 to 4 years and 10 to 14 years, having 12.1 percent each./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAbout 57 percent were of voting age/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The size of the voting-age population (18 years old and over) of Bohol in 2007 was 697,175 accounting for about 56.8 percent of the household population. The voting-age population recorded in 2000 was 656,867 or 57.7 percent of the household population. The males outnumbered the females as they comprised 50.2 percent of the total voting population in 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"bDependents increased to 77 persons per 100 persons in the working-age population/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"More than half (56.6 percent) of the household population belonged to the working-age population (15 to 64 years). About 36.6 percent were young dependents (under 15 years) while 6.8 percent were old dependents (65 years and over)./p p align="JUSTIFY"The overall dependency ratio in 2007 was 76.6, up from 72.6 in 2000. This means that for every 100 persons in the working-age population in 2007, there were 77 dependents (65 young and 12 old dependents)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bThere were more males among the never-married/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population 10 years old and over, 46.1 percent were married while 45.9 percent were never-married. The remaining proportion were either widowed, divorced/separated, had common-law/live-in marital arrangement, or had unknown marital status./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the never-married, there were more males than females. For the rest of the marital status categories, females outnumbered their male counterparts./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore female academic-degree holders than males/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Approximately 45 percent of the household population 5 years old and over had attended or completed elementary education, 28.7 percent had reached or finished high school, 6.0 percent were college undergraduates, and 8.0 percent were academic-degree holders. Meanwhile, there were more female academic-degree holders (54.0 percent) than males (46.0 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAbout 68 percent attended school/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"More than two-thirds (68.1 percent) of the household population 5 to 24 years old attended school during School Year 2007 to 2008. School attendance was higher among females (69.7 percent) than among males (66.6 percent) during the said school year./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOccupied housing units increased by 14.4 percent/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, there were 241,193 occupied housing units in Bohol. This is 14.4 percent higher than the number of occupied housing units recorded in 2000. A ratio of one household per occupied housing unit was recorded in 2007. The same ratio was observed in 2000. Moreover, the number of persons per occupied housing unit was 5.1 persons in 2007, lower than the ratio of 5.4 persons per occupied housing unit in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMost of the housing units have outer walls made of bamboo/sawali/cogon/nipa, and roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the 241,193 occupied housing units in Bohol, three out of 11 (27.0 percent) had outer walls made of bamboo/sawali/cogon/nipa while 77.8 percent had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum.
