The Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) dropped by 0.2 percent in May. A zero growth was posted last month and in May 2014, 1.1 percent. Annual declines were noted in the following indices: electrical materials index, -2.3 percent; plumbing materials index, -0.1 percent; tinsmithry materials index, -0.2 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials index, -5.9 percent. In addition, the annual uptick in carpentry materials index further slowed down to 2.3 percent. On the other hand, a higher annual increase was observed in painting materials and related compounds index at 2.5 percent while that for masonry materials index remained at 1.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, the CMRPI in NCR inched up 0.1 percent in May.
Faster upward adjustments were correspondingly noticed in the indices of electrical materials and painting materials and related compounds at 0.6 percent and 0.5 percent. Meanwhile, the increment in the index of masonry materials eased to 0.1 percent. Moreover, declines were posted in plumbing and tinsmithry materials indices at -0.1 percent and -1.2 percent. A zero growth was recorded in carpentry materials and miscellaneous construction materials indices.
Electrical wires and selected wiring devices, other paint products, sand paper and cement were priced higher during the month.
