Native Onion

  • For October-December 2017 period, production of native onion went down by 0.1 percent, from 9.24 thousand metric tons in the same quarter of the previous year to 9.23 thousand metric tons this year.
  • The decline in output was attributed to harvesting of some native onions as leeks due to good price and increased demand.
  • Ilocos Region, the top producer of native onion at 9.21 thousand metric tons shared 99.8 percent to the country’s total output this quarter.
