Philippine Statistics Authority

The Philippines, through the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is hosting the 2020 International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals Statistics (ICSDGS) on 02 to 04 September 2020. 

This is the second conference on SDG that PSA is organizing in recognition of the need to convene an international gathering of nations, development partners, members of regulatory board, and other crucial stakeholders.

Conference secretariat will invite statisticians, statistical practitioners, researchers, data producers and users as well as other stakeholders of statistics on SDGs to the conference.  Target participants will also include delegates from various international organizations, UN Regional Groups, National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of various countries, national/country coordinating and/or focal agencies on SDGs, academe, and civil society organizations which are engaged/involved in the SDG statistical process, among others.

The conference shall serve as a forum for experts, researchers and statisticians to converge and discuss progress and experiences in measuring SDGs including the data gaps across tiers and disaggregation to leave no one and nowhere behind.

Specifically, the conference aims to serve as venue for:

1. knowledge sharing of country experiences and best practices in monitoring progress towards the attainment of SDGs;
2. the discussion of strategies towards more SDG data disaggregation (geographical, income, sector, age, sex, race, ethnicity or other characteristics), methodologies for generating SDG Tier 2 indicators and frameworks to measure SDG Tier 3 indicators;
3. engaging new actors in the SDG data ecosystem towards the use of other sources of data for official statistics to monitor the SDGs (e.g. citizen-generated data, big data, administrative data, data from academic research); and
4. identifying needed resources/support and areas for capacity development for the NSOs and possible collaboration with international development partners to be able to respond to the requirements of SDG monitoring.
