APPROVING THE PHILIPPINE STANDARD COMMODITY CLASSIFICATION REVISION 2

WHEREAS, a standard classification is necessary to ensure uniformity and comparability of commodity statistics compiled in the country;

WHEREAS, amendments to the Standard International Trade Classification Revision 3 (SITC, Rev. 3) which is the basis of the Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC), Revised, have been issued by the United Nations Statistical Commission;

WHEREAS, Executive Order (EO) Nos. 470 (July 20, 1991), 478 (August 23, 1991), 1 (June 30, 1992) and 61 (February 27, 1993) have further amended the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP) as amended;

WHEREAS, there is a need to maintain a one-to-one correspondence between PSCC and the TCCP to facilitate translation of customs data in terms of the PSCC for purposes of economic analysis;

WHEREAS, the NSCB Technical Staff through the Statistical Programs and Resource Management Office (SPRMO) in coordination with the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications (TC-SSC) and its Technical Working Group on Commodity Classifications (TWG-CC) has prepared and recommended for adoption the Philippine Standard Commodity Classification Revision 2, which incorporated the amendments in SITC, Rev. 3 and the TCCP as amended;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve for adoption by concerned government offices, agencies and instrumentalities the PSCC Revision 2 and that the NSCB Secretary General be authorized to issue the necessary memorandum and circular for the implementation and dissemination of the aforementioned classification.
