With the intention to capacitate local government unit (LGU) personnel in tabulating and analyzing data obtained from the Pilot Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) conducted in October 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted a five-day statistical training for selected LGU staff from the Municipality of Samal, Province of Bataan. This capacity-building activity ran from 28 November to 02 December 2022 at The Plaza Hotel in Balanga City, Bataan.
The CBMS Module II-B: Data Processing: Data Tabulation and Analysis Using Descriptive Statistics was designed to develop one’s skill in generating various types of CBMS data tabulations using the Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro) and Microsoft Excel applications. Through this session, LGU personnel in the said municipality are now able to generate CBMS data and use functional charts that would be useful not just for presentation purposes, but more importantly, for evidenced-based planning and program implementation at the local level.
With the commitment to aid in poverty alleviation and socio-economic development, the PSA is bolstering and sustaining its partnership with the LGUs in delivering quality and relevant statistics. This is through capacity-building initiatives such as this training that would serve the best interest of every Filipino in the development process.
This training module was developed in collaboration with the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI), the training arm of the CBMS per Republic Act No. 11315 or the CBMS Act. Other modules shall also be served to all CBMS implementing LGUs such as the uses and applications of CBMS data, and the management and security of the local CBMS databank.
Other LGUs which participated during the 2021 Pilot CBMS, as well as those LGUs which are part of the ongoing 2022 CBMS Nationwide Rollout, shall also be taught with this module and the remaining modules to be developed with the PSRTI.
