In its commitment and dedication to empowering good local governance through data-driven decision making, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) extends its technical assistance to the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) participating local government units (LGUs), through the series of Provincial Level Training on CBMS Module II-B: Data Processing: Data Tabulation and Analysis Using Descriptive Statistics starting July 2023. These undertakings are being spearheaded by each PSA Provincial Statistical Office.

This training module aims to enhance the capacity of LGU personnel in effectively utilizing their respective CBMS data. It covers topics which equip the participants with technical skills in using the CSPro software for generating tabulations, exporting individual, household, and community-level data from the CBMS datasets. The said module, which also offers knowledge in basic descriptive statistics, was developed by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute in collaboration with the PSA.

As of 04 August 2023, at least 700 members of LGU CBMS core teams (officials and personnel) from 349 LGUs have been trained.

Meanwhile, CBMS local level data review meetings have been concluded in 60 LGUs as of 04 August 2023. To ensure data quality in the final datasets that will be turned over to the LGUs, preliminary tabulations were presented to the key LGU officials and personnel to discuss and verify the key observations and concerns in their respective data.

Pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. (RA) 11315, the PSA remains committed to supporting LGUs in their efforts to harness data for evidence-based planning and decision-making. This collaboration between the PSA and LGUs underscores the government’s commitment to achieving inclusive and sustainable development at the grassroots level.

PSA field offices have been continuously reaching out to other LGUs on their training schedules and city/municipal level data review meetings.
