The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) registers more than 30 million Filipinos into the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), reaching another milestone.

As of 09 September 2021, a total of 30,043,249 Filipinos have already completed their Step 2 registration or the capture of biometric information, such as fingerprint, iris scans, and front-facing photographs, at registration centers.

This milestone was recorded despite the varying community quarantine restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic which led to suspension of operation in some registration centers. PSA estimates close to 4 million registrations were missed primarily due to quarantine restrictions imposed by local government units (LGUs).

The PSA is grateful to the public for their continued support and enthusiasm to register to PhilSys. We are optimistic that registrations will continue to ramp up as we reach this 30 million milestone. Rest assured that the PSA continues to closely monitor registration operations as a commitment to prioritize public safety,” PSA Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, Ph.D., National Statistician, and Civil Registrar General said.

Registration centers in cities and municipalities with lower-level quarantine restrictions continue to operate and comply with the protocols from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and guidance from their respective LGUs. Registrants are required to strictly observe safety protocols such as physical distancing, wearing of face mask and face shield.

Meanwhile, to further accommodate registrants, the PSA opened more slots for online appointment booking nationwide.
