Agricultural production grew by 0.7 percent in the third quarter of 2020. This was due to the increases in crop and fisheries production.  On the other hand, declines in outputs were recorded for livestock and poultry.

Crop production, which contributed 52.7 percent to the total agricultural output, went up by 4.8 percent. Palay and corn production improved by 15.2 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively.

Livestock production decreased by -7.6 percent. It accounted for 17.5 percent of the total agricultural output. Hog exhibited a -7.7 percent drop in output.

Poultry production, which shared 14.0 percent in the total agricultural output, was -3.8 percent lower during the period. Production of chicken was down by -7.2 percent.

Fisheries registered a 1.9 percent output increment. It contributed 15.8 percent to the total agricultural production. Higher production growths were noted for bigeye tuna at 39.9 percent, Bali sardinella at 31.5 percent, and blue crab at 25.5 percent.

At current prices, the value of agricultural production amounted to PhP 404.6 billion, higher by 4.1 percent from the previous year’s level.
