In 2019, Cagayan Valley posted the highest increment in agricultural production at 6.6 percent. Agricultural outputs were also higher in BARMM by 5.3 percent, Ilocos Region by 4.4 percent, CAR by 3.6 percent, and Eastern Visayas by 2.1 percent.  Likewise, uptrends in production were noted in CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and Northern Mindanao.  Agricultural outputs in MIMAROPA Region went up at a slowest pace of 0.3 percent during the period.

Meanwhile, declines in agricultural production were recorded in SOCCSKSARGEN at -4.8 percent, Caraga at -4.3 percent, Bicol Region at -3.5 percent, Central Visayas at -2.8 percent, Western Visayas at -2.6 percent, Davao Region at -2.0 percent, and Zamboanga Peninsula at -0.3 percent (Figure 1 and Table 1.1).

Crop production had the biggest growth in Cagayan Valley at 8.8 percent.  Increases in livestock production were highest in SOCCSKSARGEN at 4.2 percent and BARMM at 3.6 percent. Double-digit expansions in poultry production were registered in Bicol Region at 14.0 percent, Eastern Visayas at 12.6 percent, and Zamboanga Peninsula at 10.7 percent.  Fisheries production in Eastern Visayas grew the highest at 13.3 percent (Table 1.1).

Central Luzon accounted for the highest share in the total agricultural output at 14.8 percent. The region also had the biggest production share in livestock at 17.6 percent, poultry at 29.6 percent, and fisheries at 14.7 percent.  In terms of crops, Northern Mindanao contributed the largest with 11.2 percent share (Table 1.3).

The value of agricultural production at the regional level serves as input in the estimation of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Following a standard international practice adopted by countries, revision and rebasing of the GRDP is guided by the 2008 UN System of National Accounts.
