Annual rate of increase of CMRPI in NCR decelerates in January 2020
The annual rate of increment of CMRPI in the National Capital Region (NCR) slowed down to 0.6 percent in January 2020. Its annual growth in December 2019 was recorded at 0.7 percent and in January 2019, 2.5 percent. (Table A and Table 2)
The index of miscellaneous construction materials exhibited a 0.1 percent annual decline during the month, from a 0.3 annual growth rate in December 2019. Moreover, slower annual mark-ups were also posted in the indices of the following commodity groups:
- Carpentry materials, 0.6 percent;
- Masonry materials, 0.2 percent; and
- Painting materials and related compounds, 1.0 percent.
Meanwhile, a faster annual hike of 0.5 percent was registered in the index of electrical materials during the month. Likewise, the annual growth rate of 0.9 percent observed in the indices of plumbing materials and tinsmithry materials during the month was higher, compared from their previous month’s annual growth rates of 0.2 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.
