CMRPI in NCR moved at its April 2023 annual rate

The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR remained at 2.6 percent in May 2023, ending its nine consecutive months of slower annual increases. In May 2022, its year-on-year growth rate was recorded at 6.2 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

In comparison to their April 2023 annual rates, higher annual increases were observed during the month in the indices of painting materials and related compounds at 4.8 percent from 4.6 percent; tinsmithry materials at 4.5 percent from 4.4 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials at 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent.

Meanwhile, for the third consecutive month, slower annual mark-ups were observed in the indices of carpentry materials at 2.6 percent in May 2023 from 2.8 percent in April 2023; electrical materials at 2.0 percent during the month from 2.2 percent in April 2023; and masonry materials at 2.0 percent in May 2023 from 2.5 percent in the previous month.

The plumbing materials index retained its previous month’s annual growth rate at 0.7 percent. (Table 2)
