CMWPI in NCR eased in November 2022

The annual increase of CMWPI in NCR eased to 10.4 percent in November 2022, from 11.0 percent in October 2022. Its year-on-year growth rate in November 2021 was posted at 5.4 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The lower annual growth in CMWPI was primarily brought about by the downtrend in the index for concrete products and cement at 10.5 percent in November 2022.

In addition, annual upticks were slower in the indices of the following groups during the month:

a. Sand and gravel, 7.8 percent;
b. Plywood, 6.0 percent;
c. Lumber, 7.6 percent;
d. Reinforcing and structural steel, 12.7 percent;
e. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 6.4 percent;
f. Electrical works, 7.8 percent;
g. Plumbing fixtures, and accessories/waterworks, 6.7 percent; and
h. Fuels and lubricants, 12.6 percent.

Meanwhile, annual increments were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups in November 2022:

a. Hardware, 8.0 percent;
b. G.I. sheet, 16.7 percent;
c. Tileworks, 5.9 percent; and
d. Painting works, 11.7 percent.

The rest of the commodity groups either retained their October 2022 annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growths during the month. (Table 2)
