CMWPI in NCR continued its upward trend in October 2022
The CMWPI in NCR rose further at an annual rate of 11.0 percent in October 2022. Its annual growth in September 2022 was posted at 10.5 percent and in October 2021 at 4.7 percent. (Tables A and 2)
The increase was primarily brought about by the double-digit annual increase in the index for G.I. sheet at 16.6 percent, from 12.7 percent in September 2022.
Annual increments were also higher in the indices of the following commodity groups in October 2022:
a. Sand and gravel, 8.2 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 12.5 percent;
c. Plywood, 6.5 percent;
d. Lumber, 7.7 percent;
e. Reinforcing and structural steel, 13.0 percent; and
f. Tileworks, 4.1 percent.
Meanwhile, annual hikes slowed down in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Hardware, 7.6 percent;
b. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 6.6 percent;
c. Electrical works, 7.9 percent;
d. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 6.8 percent;
e. Painting works, 11.5 percent;
f. PVC pipes, 2.7 percent; and
g. Fuels and lubricants, 16.9 percent.
The index for glass and glass products remained its annual growth rate for six consecutive months at 1.6 percent, while the indices of asphalt, and machinery and equipment rental retained their zero percent annual growth rates in October 2022. (Table 2)
