With the continuous rollout of the Digital National ID, various financial institutions are accepting it as a valid proof of identity in transactions.
"As many of our transactions are now online, the Digital National ID allows registered persons to have valid proof of identity readily available on their mobile phones for use in transactions. We are hopeful that more registered persons will download and use their Digital National ID to enable their access to financial services," said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.
Asia United Bank (AUB) and its e-wallet service, HelloMoney, accepts the Digital National ID in transactions like bank account opening and loan application.
As the first local bank to fully integrate with the National ID eVerify, AUB also utilizes the National ID system’s authentication service for identity verification, ensuring efficiency and security in transactions.
“We made it easier, more efficient, and faster for those with the National ID to [transact with us],” said AUB Product Managers Matthew Reyes and Brian Yu. “[We] highly encourage [other financial institutions] to apply it also to their system, for whatever they need it for because it just makes life so much easier. [It makes financial services] more accessible and less hassle for everyone else,” they added.
Likewise, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and its one-stop app, VYBE, accepts the Digital National ID for digital account opening and verification.
“National ID [ang] pinaka nae-encounter namin na [primary] ID na ginagamit para makapag-open ng account sa amin, especially ‘yung mga bata na wala pang mga trabaho. Napakalaking impact doon sa pag-open ng account namin, especially students,” said BPI Sales Associate Aira J. Loberez.
Mobile wallet service GCash honors the Digital National ID for account opening and verification.
“We put the National ID on top of the list of acceptable IDs for opening a GCash account,” said Razil Maria R. Garrido, head of Know Your Customer (KYC) Customer Onboarding Operations for GCash. “All three types of National ID, we accept. From the card type, the ePhilID or the paper type, as well as the Digital National ID, lahat 'yon ina-accept na namin ngayon,” she shared.
In 2023, the National ID card and ePhilID were the most presented valid IDs for GCash account verification, accounting for 41 percent of the submitted IDs.

PSA personnel facilitate the National ID registration of students from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran through the GCash KYC On-The-Go community event.
The mobile wallet service is also conducting a series of community events called GCash KYC On-The-Go, where participants can avail of National ID services such as registration, issuance of ePhilID, and assistance in downloading the Digital National ID. Through the issued ePhilIDs and downloaded Digital National IDs, participants were able to open their GCash account.
