In October to December 2019, the average farmgate price of duck for meat in commercial farms was PhP89.54 per kilogram, liveweight. This was higher by 62.7 percent compared with the previous year’s average price of PhP55.03 per kilogram, liveweight.
During the reference period, the highest price of duck for meat was reported in October at PhP112.59 per kilogram, liveweight, while the lowest was quoted in November at PhP73.75 per kilogram, liveweight. (Table 3)
Inventory
As of 01 January 2020, the total inventory of duck was estimated at 11.79 million birds. This represents an increment of 1.9 percent compared with the previous year’s record of 11.58 million birds.
Inventory of duck in backyard farms contracted by 1.3 percent, from 7.88 million birds in 2019 to 7.77 million birds in 2020. Meanwhile, duck inventory in commercial farms as of the reference period expanded by 8.7 percent relative to its 2019 count of 3.70 million birds.
The top three regions in terms of inventory were Central Luzon, SOCCSKSARGEN and Western Visayas. These regions contributed 58.9 percent to the country’s total duck population.
