p align="JUSTIFY"bTotal population reached more than 300,000 persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The total population of Iligan City totalling 308,046 persons in 2007, was higher by 8.1 percent from the 285,061 persons reported in 2000. This means that the population of this highly urbanized city grew annually at a rate of 1.07 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, or an increase of 0.14 percentage point from the annual population growth rate of 0.93 percent for the period 1995 to 2000./p p align="center"img alt="Figure 1" src="http://census.gov.ph/data/pressrelease/2010/pr1012f1.gif" //p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the 44 barangays of Iligan City, Tubod registered the highest population with 28,794 persons or 9.3 percent of the city�s total population. This was followed by Suarez (5.5 percent) and Dalipuga (4.8 percent). In 2000, these barangays were also the top three barangays of the city in terms of population size. Dulag was the smallest barangay in terms of population size with 740 persons in 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAverage household size was 5 persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population in 2007 was 306,696 persons, an increase of 7.8 percent from 284,438 persons in 2000. Similarly, the number of households increased by 8.9 percent, from 57,179 in 2000 to 62,241 in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 4.9 persons, slightly lower than the average household size of 5.0 persons in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore females than males/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the proportion of female household population (50.2 percent) was higher than its male counterpart (49.8 percent). This translated to a sex ratio of 99 males per 100 females./p p align="JUSTIFY"More males than females were noted in age groups under 15 years and 50 to 59 years while females outnumbered males in age brackets 15 to 49 years, as well as 60 years and over./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMedian age increased to 21 years/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Iligan City had a median age of 21 years, which means that half of the household population of the city in 2007 were below 21 years old. This was one year higher than the median age in 2000 (20 years)./p p align="center"img alt="Figure 1" src="http://census.gov.ph/data/pressrelease/2010/pr1012f2.gif" //p p align="JUSTIFY"The highest proportion of household population was observed in age group 15 to 19 years (11.9 percent), followed by age group 10 to 14 years (11.7 percent). Meanwhile, the largest proportion of female population belonged to age group 15 to 19 years with 12.1 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore than half were of voting age/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, about 58.0 percent of the household population belonged to age group 18 years and over, which comprised the voting-age population of the city. This was 1.5 percentage points higher than the proportion of voting-age population (56.5 percent) posted in 2000. Of the voting-age population in 2007, more females (51.0 percent) than males (49.0 percent) were observed; almost the same proportions of voting-age population were reported in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAbout 61 dependents for every 100 persons in the working-age population/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Approximately 62.1 percent of the city�s household population belonged to the working-age population (15 to 64 years). About 1 in every 3 (34.6 percent) were young dependents (under 15 years), while 3.3 percent were old dependents (65 years and over). These figures resulted to an overall dependency ratio of 61.1 or about 61 dependents (56 young and 5 old dependents) per 100 persons in the working-age population. In 2000, the overall dependency ratio was 65.4 or 65 dependents for every 100 persons in the working-age population./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAlmost half were single persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"About 77 percent of the household population were 10 years old and over. From this portion of the household population, 45.9 percent were single while 45.6 percent were married. The remaining proportion were either widowed, divorced/separated, had common-law/live-in marital arrangement, or had unknown marital status. In 2000, there were more married (46.7 percent) than single (45.3 percent) persons reported./p p align="JUSTIFY"Furthermore, there were more males (51.9 percent) than females (48.1 percent) in 2007 who were single. Females outnumbered males in the rest of the categories for marital status./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore female academic-degree holders than males/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population 5 years old and over, 30.4 percent had attended or completed elementary, 31.9 percent had reached or completed high school, 10.8 percent had some college education, and 12.4 percent were academic degree holders. Among academic degree holders, there were more females (54.7 percent) than males (42.2 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bSix out of ten attended school/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"About 44 percent of the household population belonged to school-age population (5 to 24 years old). About 64 percent had attended school during School Year 2007 to 2008, while more than one third (35.8 percent) of the household population 5 to 24 years old did not attend school during said school year. Of those who had attended school, there were more males than females./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOccupancy of housing units improved/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, there were 61,341 occupied housing units in Iligan City. This was 9.8 percent higher than the recorded occupied housing units of 55,869 in 2000. This showed that there were 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units in 2007, lower than the ratio of 102 households per 100 occupied housing units in 2000. A ratio of 5.0 persons per occupied housing unit was recorded in 2007, a slight decrease from the 2000 ratio of 5.1 persons per occupied housing unit./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMost occupied housing units had outer walls made of wood and roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the occupied housing units in 2007, about 41 percent used wood for the outer walls, while majority (90.1 percent) used galvanized iron/aluminum as materials for the roof. The same construction materials for the outer walls and roofs were mainly used for the occupied housing units in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"Moreover, about one third (32.1 percent) of the occupied housing units used concrete/brick/stone for the outer walls, an increase of 4.5 percentage points from the occupied housing units (27.6 percent) which used the same materials in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMajority resided in owned or amortized lots/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, more than half of the households (51.1 percent) owned or amortized the lots they occupied, 26.9 percent had an arrangement of rent-free with consent of owner, while 19.6 percent rented their residential lots./p p align="JUSTIFY" /p p style="text-align: -webkit-left; " /p table border="0" width="100%" tbody tr td colspan="80%" /td td align="CENTER" nowrap="nowrap"font face="arial,helvetica" style="text-align: -webkit-left; "font face="Arial" size="-1"(Sgd.) bCARMELITA N.
