GRPI in NCR sustains its annual rate at 2.1 percent in April 2024  
 

The annual rate of GRPI in NCR in April 2024 remained at 2.1 percent for the third consecutive month. In April 2023, its year-on-year growth rate was recorded at 5.4 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

Faster annual increments were observed in the indices of the following commodity groups in April 2024 compared with the previous month:   

          a. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 5.0 percent from 2.5 percent;  
          b. Chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 2.5 percent from 2.4 percent;  
          c. Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.4 percent from 1.2 percent; and  
          d. Miscellaneous manufactured articles, 1.2 percent from 1.1 percent.  

On the other hand, slower annual increases were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:  

          a. Food, 2.6 percent from 2.7 percent;  
          b. Beverages and tobacco, 3.7 percent from 4.3 percent;  
          c. Crude materials, inedible except fuels, 0.8 percent from 1.0 percent; and  
          d. Machinery and transport equipment, 0.6 percent from 0.7 percent. (Table 2)
