Annual rate of GRPI in NCR slowed down to 1.8 percent in June 2024
 

The annual rate of GRPI in NCR eased to 1.8 percent in June 2024 from 2.0 percent in May 2024. In June 2023, its year-on-year growth rate was posted at 4.4 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

The primary contributor to the deceleration of the annual growth rate of GRPI in NCR was the slower annual increase recorded in the index of machinery and transport equipment at 0.4 percent in June 2024 from 0.6 percent in the previous month.

In addition, slower annual increments were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

          a. Food, 2.4 percent from 2.5 percent;
          b. Beverages and tobacco, 2.6 percent from 3.0 percent;
          c. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 5.7 percent from 6.1 percent;  
          d. Chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 2.0 percent from 2.2 percent; and
          e. Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.1 percent from 1.3 percent.

On the other hand, higher annual increments in June 2024 were observed in the indices of crude materials, inedible except fuels at 0.8 percent from 0.6 percent, and miscellaneous manufactured articles at 1.5 percent during the month from 1.2 percent in May 2024. (Table 2)
