Higher annual increment of GRPI in the National Capital Region (NCR) is observed during the month

The annual change of GRPI in NCR moved up by 0.9 percent in September 2019. In the previous month, the annual rate was registered at 0.8 percent and in September 2018, 3.6 percent. (Table A and Table 2)

Higher annual mark-ups during the month were recorded in the indices of the following commodity groups:

• Beverages and tobacco, 2.7 percent;
• Chemicals, including animal and vegetables oils and fats, 0.9 percent;
• Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.4 percent; and
• Miscellaneous manufactured articles, 1.1 percent.

Meanwhile, slower annual gains were posted in the indices of food at 1.1 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels, 3.5 percent. Moreover, the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials was still on a downward trend as its annual rate declined further by 5.5 percent. The index of machinery and transport equipment retained its previous month’s annual rate of 0.5 percent. (Table 2)
