A range of health consequences or abnormalities of the body resulting from a prolonged lack or insufficient intake of iodine, ranging from simple goiter to cretinism, which is a condition of severely stunted physical and mental growth
Notes:
Latest WHO/ UNICEF/ ICCIDD standards for IDD is for 1972 Age groups covered include 6-12 years old, pregnant and lactating women. Biochemically, iodine deficiency is manifested by low iodine concentration in the urine
