The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announces the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 627, s. 2024 by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., declaring the month of July 2024 as the National Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Month. This endeavor forms part of a larger initiative aimed at updating social registries and conducting multidimensional poverty assessments, formulating policies, alleviating poverty, and fostering economic development in local government units across the country.
By designating July 2024 as National Census and Community-Based Monitoring System Month, the government hopes to raise awareness about the importance of active participation in data collection efforts. The proclamation underscores the commitment to ensuring inclusive and comprehensive data collection to support evidence-based decision-making at both national and local levels.
The public is encouraged to provide support and participate in the successful implementation of this proclamation. The 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and CBMS are set to be jointly conducted from July to September 2024, with a reference date of 01 July 2024. Various activities have started, such as the nationwide training of enumerators who will collect household data for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. The enumeration period will commence on 15 July 2024.
