NINE-MONTH EXPORT REVENUES UP BY 19.0 PERCENT.

Total export receipts for the first three quarters of the year grew by 19.0 percent to $21.845 billion from $18.363 billion a year earlier.

For the month of September alone, total receipts increased by 19.2 percent to $2.786 billion from $2.337 billion last year.

 

ELECTRONICS AND COMPONENTS ACCOUNT FOR 54.4 PERCENT

 

Accounting for 54.4 percent of the aggregate revenue for September, shipments of Electronics and Components brought in a 39.4 percent increase in sales growing to $1,515.06 million, up from $1,087.04 million last year.

Moving to second was the Input/Output/Peripheral Units group earning $199.58 million which was 45.4 percent higher than $137.30 million a year ago.

The third top earner was Articles of Apparel and Clothing Accessories with sales amounting to $194.01 million, which decreased by 11.6 percent from $219.40 million in 1997.

Revenue from Coconut Oil exports grew by 92.1 percent as the value of shipments reached $95.69 million, up from $49.82 million a year ago.

Value of Ignition Wiring Set and Other Wiring Sets Used in Vehicles, Aircrafts and Ships dropped by 14.9 percent to $41.26 million from $48.48 million in 1997.

Earnings from Other Products Manufactured from Materials Imported on Consignment Basis increased by 15.6 percent to $40.43 million from $34.98 million last year.

Rounding up the list of the top exports for September 1998 were Woodcraft and Furniture, $36.68 million; Metal Components, $24.56 million; Cathodes and Sections of Cathodes, of Refined Copper, $22.01 million; and Gold, $18.47 million.

Aggregate payment for the top ten exports for the month amounted to $2.188 billion, which was 78.5 percent of the total.

 

MANUFACTURED GOODS ACCOUNT FOR 88.5 PERCENT

 

Revenues from exports of Manufactured Goods increased by 22.9 percent as sales reached $2.466 billion from $2.007 billion a year earlier. This major export group accounted for 88.5 percent of total.

Income from Agro-Based Products combined for $180.29 million adding up to 6.5 percent of the total. Aggregate revenues for these commodity groups grew by 23.8 percent from $145.65 million last year.

Other major commodity groups and their respective shares were Special Transactions, $72.62 million; Mineral Products, $55.90 million; Petroleum Products, $11.15 million; and Forest Products, $0.26 million.

 

US TOP MARKET FOR SEPTEMBER EXPORTS

 

One third of total exports for the month was shipped to the US market. With an 11.2 percent increase, sales to the United States amounted to $928.30 million from $834.47 million a year earlier.

Japan was the second biggest market with a 12.3 percent share. Reported receipts amounted to $342.67 million which was 8.7 percent lower than $375.22 million a year ago.

Netherlands was the third biggest market for the month. Shipments of goods amounted to $208.18 million which was 7.5 percent of the total.

Other top markets for September 1998 were Taiwan, $193.16 million; United Kingdom of Great Britain, $188.26 million; Singapore, $165.03 million; Malaysia, $145.35 million; Hongkong, $139.11 million; Germany, $86.24 million; and Republic of Korea, $56.66 million.

Shipments to the top ten markets amounted to $2.453 billion and accounted for 88.0 percent of the aggregate export revenues.
