Since the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) rolled out the Digital National lD, more Filipinos are downloading and using it for transactions.

Developed by the PSA in collaboration with the Department of lnformation and Communications Technology (DICT), the Digital National lD is the official digital version of the National lD.

As of 28 October 2024, a total of 83,585,423 Digital National lDs are ready for download and use of registered persons to the National lD. Through any smartphone with internet connection, registered persons can simply visit https://national-id.gov.ph/, input their demographic information such as name and date of birth, and undergo facial verification to access and download their Digital National lD.

"We call for all registered persons to download their Digital National lD now and use it in transactions," said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General. "Registered individuals can now download a valid proof of identity directly to their mobile devices, making it easy to authenticate their identity for various transactions."

Donald Geverola, a resident of Mambajao, Camiguin, is among the registered persons who have already downloaded their Digital National lD. He was able to present it as a valid lD in a financial transaction.

“Malaki ang aking pasasalamat [ko] dahil mayroon na agad akong Digital National ID [na] nagagamit ko na sa pag-claim ng pera sa [remittance center],” he said.

Arvy Yano from Tuguegarao City, Cagayan was able to download his Digital National ID through the assistance of PSA personnel.

“In-assist ako sa information [desk] tapos tinuro nila sa akin kung paano [i-download] at gamitin [ang Digital National ID],” he said. “Mabilis lang po na-download.”

With his Digital National ID, Yano was able to request for and claim a Certificate of Live Birth at the local civil registry outlet.

“Sa mga kababayan natin, mag-download na po kayo ng Digital National ID,” he added.
