The National ID authentication services of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is helping bring the vision of more targeted service delivery, and more seamless transactions to reality.
Through the authentication services of the National ID, identity verification of individuals is done through facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, or other unique credentials of an individual including their National ID Card Number, which ensures security and minimizes risk of fraudulent activities in transactions.
“The National ID system and its authentication services sets it apart from other IDs. It goes beyond verification of the physical ID and basic demographic information and instead, relies on a registered person’s unique credentials,” said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.
“Through the National ID authentication services, both the public and relying parties can be assured that the delivery of services are more targeted and transactions are more seamless. This highlights the National ID's crucial role in the country’s efforts toward digitalization,” PSA Usec. Mapa added.
For social protection programs, the National ID authentication services help ensure that benefits go to target recipients.
Beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), for instance, are authenticated via fingerprint scanning and facial recognition during Family Development Sessions (FDS) as part of the continuous partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

A 4Ps beneficiary undergoes National ID authentication during an FDS in Malibay City, Pasay.
As of 31 December 2024, a total of 2,588,836 4Ps beneficiaries across the country have been authenticated during FDS.
For other government services such as the release of civil registry documents, undergoing National ID authentication means only the requester or the authorized person receives the requested document.
This is applicable to individuals who requested birth, marriage, and death certificates via PSAHelpline—the online portal for the application of civil registry documents. As of 17 March 2025, a total of 16,477 individuals have undergone National ID authentication in the said online portal.
At the local government of Tublay, Benguet, National ID authentication services are utilized for various services. This includes the authentication of 4Ps beneficiaries and clients processing civil registry documents through the Registry of Barangay Inhabitants (RBI).
For civil registry documents, Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) Ruth Elyn Dino shared that National ID authentication as an identity verification measure gives them confidence in releasing the documents.
“We have come to be secured in the issuance and the release of documents from our archives. So [for] civil registry documents, kapag ini-release namin 'yon, mas panatag kami na 'yung nire-releasan namin or kung kanino namin ini-isyu ay sila 'yung karapat-dapat na recipient,” MCR Dino said.
As of 20 March 2025, the local government of Tublay, Benguet has done a total of 2,321 National ID authentications.
For financial institutions, the integration of National ID authentication services means faster and more streamlined identity verification.
At Asia United Bank—the first local bank to integrate with the National ID—the use of National ID authentication services for its mobile wallet service, HelloMoney, reduced man hours allotted for verification of clients opening accounts.
“With this e-verification, nabawasan 'yong verification process [of the staff]. This time around, they don't need to verify the ID because it's already verified from the start [through the National ID authentication services],” said AUB Chief Compliance Officer Claire dela Rosa.
From September 2024 to February 2025, AUB has onboarded around 94,000 Filipinos to the HelloMoney app whose identities were verified through the National ID authentication services.
