Palay Volume of Production from January to March 2025
The January to March 2025 palay production was recorded at 4.70 million metric tons. This indicates an annual increase of 0.3 percent from the 4.69 million metric tons output registered in the same quarter of the previous year. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

During the period, Central Luzon was the top producer of palay with 808.60 thousand metric tons, accounting for 17.2 percent share to the total palay production. This was followed by Cagayan Valley with 640.43 thousand metric tons (13.6%) and Western Visayas with 549.51 thousand metric tons (11.7%). These three regions accounted for 42.5 percent of the country’s total palay production during the quarter. (Table 2)

The area harvested with palay from January to March 2025 was estimated at 1.15 million hectares, reflecting a decline of 2.3 percent from the 1.17 million hectares area harvested recorded in the same quarter of 2024. (Figure 2 and Table 1)
Western Visayas was the top contributing region with 169.59 thousand hectares, accounting for 14.8 percent share to the total palay area harvested. This was followed by Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley with 157.11 thousand hectares (13.7%) and 127.00 thousand hectares (11.1%), respectively. (Table 3)

The yield per hectare of palay in the first quarter of 2025 was recorded at 4.09 metric tons, which was 2.7 percent higher than the yield of 3.99 metric tons per hectare recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. Central Luzon registered the highest yield in the first quarter of 2025 with 5.15 metric tons per hectare. This was followed by Cagayan Valley and Ilocos Region with yields per hectare of 5.04 metric tons and 4.96 metric tons, respectively. (Table 4)
