  • The population of Region IV-A (CALABARZON) as of August 1, 2015 was 14,414,774 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015).

  • The 2015 population of the region is higher by 1,804,971 compared with the population of 12.61 million in 2010, and by 5,094,145 compared with the population of 9.32 million in 2000.  Refer to Table 1.
  • The population of Region IV-A increased by 2.58 percent annually, on average, during the period 2010 to 2015. By comparison, the rate at which the region’s population grew during the period 2000 to 2010 was higher at 3.07 percent. See Table 2.

  • Among the five provinces comprising the region, Cavite had the biggest population in 2015 with 3.68 million, followed by Laguna with 3.04 million, Rizal with 2.88 million, and Batangas with 2.69 million. Quezon (excluding Lucena City) had the smallest population with 1.86 million. Refer to Table 3.
  • Lucena City, the only highly urbanized city in the region posted a population of 266 thousand.
  • The total population of Region IV-A accounted for about 14.3 percent of the Philippine population in 2015.

  • Cavite was the fastest growing province in the region with an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 3.37 percent during the period 2010 to 2015. It was followed by Rizal (2.88 percent), Laguna (2.47 percent), and Batangas (2.41 percent). Quezon (excluding Lucena City) posted the lowest provincial PGR of 1.23 percent.
  • Lucena City posted a PGR of 1.49 percent. See Table 4.

  • Region IV-A is composed of one highly urbanized city, 18 component cities, 123 municipalities, and 4,018 barangays.
  • Among the cities (excluding Lucena City) and municipalities in the region, the largest in terms of population size is the City of Antipolo, Rizal with 776,386 persons. It was followed by the City of Dasmariñas, Cavite (659,019) and Bacoor City, Cavite (600,609). Refer to Table 5.

  • Jomalig in Quezon is the least populous city/municipality in Region IV-A with 7,417 persons. It was followed by Plaridel (10,935) and Perez (12,173) - both in the province of Quezon. Six other municipalities in the province of Quezon and one municipality in the province of Laguna comprise the rest of the ten least populous cities/municipalities in the region. See Table 6.

  • Of the 4,018 barangays in Region IV-A, the largest in terms of population size is San Jose in Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal with 124,868 persons. It was followed by San Isidro in Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal (117,277) and Cupang in the City of Antipolo, Rizal (113,613). The rest of the top ten most populous barangays in the region are located in the province of Rizal and in the province of Cavite. Refer to Table 7.
