This figure was higher by 15,417 persons over the population count of 264,357 persons in 2000. The population count of the province for the 2000 and 2007 censuses translated to an average annual population growth rate of 0.78 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the number of households reached 58,021, which was 4,290 households more than the 53,731 households in 2000. The average household size in 2007 was 4.8 persons, slightly lower than the average household size of 4.9 persons in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOdiongan was the most populated municipality/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the 17 municipalities in the province, Odiongan was the most populous with 15.0 percent share to the provincial population. It was followed by the municipalities of Romblon, the provincial capital (13.4 percent), San Fernando (8.0 percent), San Agustin (7.9 percent), Cajidiocan (7.6 percent), and Looc (7.4 percent). The rest of the municipalities contributed less than six percent each. The municipality of Concepcion was the least populous with 1.5 percent share to the total provincial population./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"bMales outnumbered females in the household population/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the 279,177 household population of Romblon, 50.9 percent were males and 49.1 percent were females. The sex ratio was recorded at 103 males for every 100 females, slightly higher than the sex ratio of 102 males per 100 females in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore younger males than females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population of Romblon had a median age of 19 years, which means that half of the household population were below 19 years old. The same median age was recorded in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"Age group 10 to 14 years contributed the highest share to household population with 13.9 percent, followed by those in age groups 5 to 9 years (13.7 percent) and 0 to 4 years (13.4 percent)./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"There were more males than females in age brackets 0 to 39 years and 45 to 49 years, while more females than males were reported in age brackets 40 to 44 years and 50 years and over./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOver fifty percent of the household population were in the voting-age population/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"More than half (52.2 percent) of the household population of Romblon were of voting ages (18 years old and over). The distribution of voting-age population by sex was 50.4 percent for females and 49.6 percent for males./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOverall dependency ratio increased to 89 dependents per 100 persons in the working age group/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The proportion of household population in the working age group (15 to 64 years) was 52.9 percent. Young dependents (0 to 14 years) comprised 41.0 percent while old dependents (65 years and over) accounted for 6.1 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the overall dependency ratio was 89, which means that for every 100 persons in the working age group, there were 89 dependents (78 young dependents and 11 old dependents). In 2000, there were about 85 dependents (75 young dependents and 10 old dependents) per 100 persons in the working age group./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore never-married males than females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Approximately 44.5 percent of the household population 10 years old and over in 2007 were never married while 43.6 percent were married. The rest of the population was either widowed (5.9 percent), divorced/separated (0.8 percent), had common law/live-in marital arrangement (4.9 percent), or had unknown marital status (0.3 percent). Among never-married persons, there were more males (56.3 percent) than females (43.7 percent). Females outnumbered males in the rest of the categories for marital status./p p align="JUSTIFY"bHigher levels of education and school attendance for females than males/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population 5 years old and over, 45.7 percent had attended or finished elementary education while 30.1 percent had reached or completed high school. The proportion of academic degree holders was 5.3 percent, an increase of 2.2 percentage points from the 2000 figure of 3.1 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"More females had attained higher levels of education than males, as majority of those with academic degrees (60.3 percent) and post baccalaureate courses (62.6 percent) were females./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the household population 5 to 24 years old, 73.4 percent had attended school at anytime during School Year 2007 to 2008. School attendance among females (75.0 percent of all females aged 5 to 24 years) was higher compared to that of males (72.0 percent of all males aged 5 to 24 years) during the said school year./p p align="JUSTIFY"bNumber of occupied housing units increased by 4,414/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The number of occupied housing units in 2007 reached 57,692, indicating an increase of 8.3 percent from 53,278 occupied housing units in 2000. The average number of households for every 100 occupied housing units in 2007 and 2000 were the same at 101 households. As to the number of persons per occupied housing unit, a ratio of 4.8 persons per occupied housing unit was recorded in 2007, slightly lower than the ratio of 5.0 persons per occupied housing unit in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bUse of strong materials for roof and outer walls increased/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Increase in the materials used for outer walls was noted in 2007 compared with that in 2000. The proportion of occupied housing units with outer walls made of concrete/brick/stone increased from 25.6 percent in 2000 to 31.3 percent in 2007. On the other hand, the proportion of occupied housing units with outer walls made of bamboo/sawali/anahaw dropped from 42.9 percent in 2000 to 39.4 percent in 2007, or a difference of 3.5 percentage points./p p align="JUSTIFY"Over half (50.5 percent) of the occupied housing units in 2007 had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum.
