Increases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of special rice, ranging from PhP 0.09 to PhP 2.50, were observed in 10 regional centers during the first phase of February 2021 (01 to 05 February 2021), compared with their price levels in the second phase of the previous month (15 to 17 January 2021). Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram was lower by PhP 1.00 in Pagadian City, and by PhP 2.25 in Cebu City during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. (Table 1) The average retail prices of a kilogram of pork with bones went up in 12 regional centers, ranging from PhP 5.00 to PhP 70.00 during the period, relative to their price levels in the second phase of January 2021. On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram dropped by PhP 5.00 in Cabanatuan City, by PhP 8.89 in the National Capital Region (NCR), and by PhP 10.00 in Tacloban City during the first phase survey of February, from their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. (Table 2) Changes in the average retail prices of galunggong between the first phase of February and second phase of January were noted in 11 regional centers. (Table 3) On the average, retail prices of vegetables were lower in many regional centers during the period, relative to their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. (Table 4) Compared with the price levels in the second phase of January 2021, declines in the average retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 5.00 to PhP 100.00, were observed in 12 regional centers during the first phase of February 2021. However, its average retail price per kilogram picked up by PhP 2.50 in Baguio City, and by PhP 5.00 in Kidapawan City during the period, relative to their price levels in the second phase of January 2021. (Table 5) The average retail prices of a kilogram of carabao mango went up in five regional centers during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of the previous month. However, compared with the price levels in the second phase of January 2021, the average retail price per kilogram of carabao mango fell by PhP 1.22 in NCR, by PhP 10.00 in Batangas City and Pagadian City, and by PhP 30.00 in Legazpi City in the first phase of February 2021. (Table 6) Relative to their price levels in the second phase of January 2021, the average retail prices of a kilogram of refined sugar decreased by PhP 0.03 to PhP 4.75 in four regional centers during the period. On the contrary, its average retail price per kilogram inched up by PhP 0.15 in Kidapawan City, and by PhP 1.00 in Baguio City and Butuan City during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of January 2021. MAPA, Ph.D. Undersecretary National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Explanatory Notes The survey entitled “Weekly Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities” is discontinued in February 2021 as part of the Office’s thrust of rationalizing the surveys conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Beginning with the February 2021 series of this report, the source of data will be taken from the results of the Retail Price Survey (RPS) of Commodities for the Generation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) during its first phase and second phase survey rounds. Price collection for the first phase survey round of the RPS of Commodities for the Generation of the CPI is conducted from the 1st to 5th day of the month, while the second phase survey round is undertaken from 15th to 17th day of the month. Report will be released twice a month; that is, every 15th day for the first phase survey round, and 30th day for the second phase survey round, instead of weekly.
