1. The average retail prices of a kilogram of well milled rice climbed by PhP 0.01 to PhP 1.90 in six trading centers during the first phase of January 2023 (01 to 05 January 2023) compared with their price levels in the second phase of December 2022 (15 to 17 December 2022). Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram dropped by PhP 0.10 in Legazpi City and by PhP 1.00 in Tuguegarao City during the period. (Table 1)

2. Increases in the average retail prices of a piece of medium chicken egg, ranging from PhP 0.20 to PhP 1.38, were observed in six trading centers during the first phase of January 2023. On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram declined by PhP 0.50 in Tuguegarao City and by PhP 1.04 in Calapan City during the first phase of January 2023. (Table 2)

3. Increments in the average retail prices of a kilogram of galunggong, ranging from PhP 5.05 to PhP 70.00, were registered in nine trading centers during the first phase of January 2023. However, its average retail price per kilogram was lower by PhP 12.50 in Baguio City and by PhP 20.00 in Butuan City during the period. (Table 3)

4. Many trading centers reported increases in the retail prices of vegetables during the first phase of January 2023. (Table 4)

5. Higher retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 65.00 to PhP 278.50, were noted in 12 trading centers during the first phase of January 2023 compared with their price levels in the second phase of December 2022. (Table 5)

6. The average retail prices of a kilogram of calamansi varied among trading centers during the first phase of January 2023.  (Table 6)

7. Four trading centers posted declines in the average retail prices of a kilogram of brown sugar, ranging from PhP 0.77 to PhP 5.00, during the first phase of January 2023 relative to their price levels in the second phase of December 2022. Its average retail prices per kilogram, however, were higher by PhP 0.96 in the National Capital Region and PhP 2.50 in both Legazpi City and Digos City during the first phase of January 2023.
