The average retail price of a kilogram of special rice fell by PhP 0.25 to PhP 1.50 in six regional centers during the second phase of February 2021 (15 to 17 of February 2021), compared with their price levels in the first phase of the month (01 to 05 day of February 2021). On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram in the three regional centers went up by PhP 0.09 to PhP 3.25 during the period. (Table 1) Declines in the average retail prices of pork with bones, ranging from PhP 5.00 to PhP 70.00 per kilogram, were reported in six regional centers during the second phase of February 2021. However, its average retail price per kilogram was higher by PhP 10.00 in Cabanatuan City, and by PhP 30.00 in Kidapawan City during the second phase of February 2021. Majority (13) of the regional centers exhibited downtrend in the average retail price of a kilogram of galunggong, ranging from PhP 3.78 to PhP 50.00, from their price levels in the first phase of February 2021. (Table 3) Many regions exhibited lower retail prices of vegetables during the second phase of February 2021, compared with their price levels in the first phase of February 2021. (Table 4) Changes in the average retail prices of red onion between the second phase and first phase of February 2021 were observed in 11 regional centers. (Table 5) Increments in the average retail prices of calamansi, ranging from PhP 2.50 to PhP 50.00 per kilogram, were seen in six regional centers during the second phase of February 2021. On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram was lower by PhP 5.00 in three regional centers during the period. (Table 6) Relative to their price levels in the first phase of February 2021, the average retail prices of a kilogram of brown sugar inched up by PhP 0.02 to PhP 2.50 in six regional centers during the second phase of February 2021. Meanwhile, it declined by PhP 1.50 in Pagadian City in the second phase of February 2021. DENNIS S. MAPA, Ph.D. Undersecretary National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Explanatory Notes The survey entitled “Weekly Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities” is discontinued in February 2021 as part of the Office’s thrust of rationalizing the surveys conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Beginning with the February 2021 series of this report, the source of data will be taken from the results of the Retail Price Survey (RPS) of Commodities for the Generation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) during its first phase and second phase survey rounds. Price collection for the first phase survey round of the RPS of Commodities for the Generation of the CPI is conducted from the 1st to 5th day of the month, while the second phase survey round is undertaken from 15th to 17th day of the month. Report will be released twice a month; that is, every 15th day for the first phase survey round, and 30th day for the second phase survey round, instead of weekly.
