1. Decreases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of regular milled rice by PhP 0.10 to PhP 0.91 were observed in five trading centers during the second phase of May 2022 (15 to 17 May 2022) compared with their price levels in the first phase of May 2022 (01 to 05 May 2022). Its average retail price per kilogram, however, inched up by PhP 0.02 in Cebu City, by PhP 0.12 in Legazpi City, by PhP 0.50 in Digos City, and by PhP 0.51 in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the second phase of the month. Varied changes in the average retail prices of a kilogram of dressed chicken, ranging from a drop of PhP 5.00 to an increase of PhP 20.00, were reported in 10 trading centers during the second phase of May 2022. (Table 2) 3. Five trading centers posted lower prices for a kilogram of galunggong, ranging from PhP 2.50 to PhP 125.00, during the second phase of May 2022. Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram rose by PhP 8.83 in Butuan City, by PhP 10.00 in Pagadian City, and by PhP 20.00 in Kidapawan City during the period. (Table 3) 4. Varied movements in the average retail prices of vegetables were registered in many trading centers during the second phase of May 2022. (Table 4) 5. The average retail prices of a kilogram of red onion went up by PhP 4.66 to PhP 25.00 in six trading centers during the second phase of May 2022. On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram fell by PhP 5.00 to PhP 29.50 in five trading centers during the period. (Table 5) 6. In the retail trade, prices of calamansi decreased by PhP 3.75 to PhP 50.00 in five trading centers during the second phase of May 2022. However, its average retail price per kilogram during the second phase of May 2022 was higher by PhP 2.50 in Digos City. (Table 6) 7. Compared with their price levels in the first phase of May 2022, the average retail prices of a kilogram of brown sugar climbed by PhP 0.83 to PhP 4.50 in five trading centers in the second phase of May 2022. Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram dropped by PhP 0.40 in Kidapawan City, by PhP 1.00 in Legazpi City, and by PhP 2.00 in Batangas City. (Table 7) DENNIS S.
