· Producer Price Index (PPI) sustains growth
The Producer Price Index (PPI) for the manufacturing industry reflected an increment of 1.4 percent in June 2007 compared to the year-ago figure. Thirteen (13) major sectors reported price increases, led by publishing and printing with a two-digit increase of 20.9 percent. However, seven (7) major sectors reported price decreases, with two-digit price decreases noted in furniture and fixtures (-19.8%) and miscellaneous manufactures (-12.4%). Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.
Also, PPI on a monthly basis grew by 0.3 percent in June 2007. This was due to the price increases observed in ten (10) major sectors, namely: leather products, petroleum products, chemical products, transport equipment, footwear and wearing apparel, food manufacturing, machinery excluding electrical, basic metals, textiles and non-metallic mineral products. · Response Rate
The response rate for June 2007 is 86.6 percent, which corresponds to the retrieval of 264 sample establishments� reports. Refer to Table 2.

· Technical Notes
Weights for the PPI are based from the results of the 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over.
Data of non-responding sample establishments are estimated based on previous records and other available sources. Revisions to the preliminary estimates are done upon receipt of actual reports of late respondents.
