The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the 2022 National Survey on the Awareness of Private Firms on the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) and the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC). On behalf of the PCC, the survey will be conducted by the PSA as a rider to the third quarter round of the 2022 Quarterly Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (QSPBI).

The survey aims to determine the awareness of establishments on the PCC and the PCA. Results of the survey will guide the PCC in assessing the impact of their advocacy efforts which will serve as input in the design of future programs to raise the stakeholders’ awareness on the PCC, PCA, and the benefits of competition law and policy.

Major data items to be collected in the survey are as follows:

  1. general information on the respondent;
  2. general information on the establishment;
  3. awareness on the PCC and its responsibilities;
  4. awareness on the PCA and prohibited actions under the PCA; and
  5. awareness on the Competitiveness Bureau and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The 2022 National Survey on the Awareness of Private Firms on the PCA and the PCC will cover approximately 6,000 establishments nationwide with a total budget amounting to PhP 4.1 million. Questionnaires will be distributed and collected from September to December 2022.

This survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;
  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all the sampled establishments nationwide to support and participate in the survey by providing the required information.
