The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the Impact Evaluation of the Fisheries, Coastal Resources and Livelihood (FishCORAL) Project in Eastern Visayas by the National Economic and Development Authority – Regional Office VIII (NEDA-RO VIII).

The undertaking aims to assess the impact of the FishCORAL Livelihood Development (FCLD) Project in four bays of Region VIII namely; Cabalian-Silago Bay, Leyte Gulf, Matarinao Bay, and Maqueda-Villareal Bay.

Major data items to be collected in the survey are as follows:
   a. sociodemographic characteristics;
   b. family income and expenditures;
   c. sources of financial assistance; and
   d. livelihood activities.

The Impact Evaluation of the FishCORAL Project in Eastern Visayas will interview 1,320 fishing households (i.e., beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries) this October 2023, which will utilize a total budget of PhP 2.0 million. Results of the survey are scheduled to be released on 31 December 2023.

This undertaking was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA No. 10625 to:
   a. ensure sound design for data collection;
   b. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
   c. effect economy in statistical data collection;
   d. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
   e. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all sampled fishing households to support and participate in the survey by providing the truthful information.
