The Training-Workshop on Data to Benchmark Accounts, which was attended by the PSA RSSO and field offices of Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), is part of PSA’s efforts to capacitate regional and provincial technical staff on the data requirements and processes on benchmarking.
During the three-day training, the participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the data sources (i.e. CPBI, LE, FIES). The event also served as an opportunity for the RSSOs and PSOs to raise concerns, technical issues, and validation for the data requirements for PPA compilation.
The activity was facilitated by the Subnational Economic Accounts Division, Production Accounts Division, Expenditure and Integrated Accounts Division, and Agricultural Accounts Division of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service.
The PPA compilation began in 2021 with three pilot regions and expanded further to cover additional six regions in 2022. This year, PSA started the PPA compilation in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, and BARMM. These regions will compile the GDP of the provinces and HUCs for the period 2018 to 2022, while 2021 and 2022 PPA updates will be simultaneously done for the first nine regions.
