The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), through its Standards Service (SS), has formally granted clearance for the conduct of the Department of Health - Center for Health Development - Caraga’s. “Influences Affecting Antenatal Care Utilization among Caraganons” Survey.
To be conducted by the Caraga State University, the survey aims to examine the factors influencing antenatal care (ANC) utilization among residents of Caraga. The specific objectives are as follows:
1. to identify the antenatal care services utilized by respondents during the ANC period, related to nutritional interventions (dietary intervention and supplementation) and preventive measures (maternal assessment, fetal assessment, and vaccination);
2. to determine the timing of antenatal care utilization relative to the aforementioned nutritional interventions and preventive measures;
3. to examine the quality of antenatal care services, focusing on health care delivery, health care facilities, the interpersonal aspect of care, and access to services;
4. to determine the personal, socio-cultural, economic, and geophysical factors contributing to respondents' antenatal care utilization; and
5. to determine the factors affecting the utilization of antenatal care services.
The survey will gather key data on: Healthcare Facilities and Services; Antenatal Care Utilization and Timing; Perceived Quality of Antenatal Care Services; Factors Affecting utilization of Antenatal Care Services; Household Level Awareness of ANC Services; and Household Support to Pregnant Women.
With a total budget allocation of approximately PhP 1.1 million, the survey will be conducted across 500 households in the Caraga Region. The data collection is scheduled to take place in June 2025, with the release of survey results expected in September 2025.
The survey has been reviewed and cleared under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism implemented by the PSA pursuant to Rule 28 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625.
The SSRCS covers statistical surveys conducted and/or funded by government agencies, government-owned and/or -controlled corporations, and local government units. It aims to:
1. Ensure a sound design for data collection
2. Minimize the burden placed upon respondents
3. Effect economy in statistical data collection
4. Eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts
5. Achieve better coordination of government statistical activities
The PSA strongly encourages all sampled households to actively participate in the survey by providing accurate and truthful information for data-driven policies that strengthen socio-economic support for pregnant women.
