The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), through its Standards Service (SS), has formally granted survey clearance for the conduct of the “May 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) with Rider Questions on Volunteer Work”, jointly undertaken by the PSA and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.
To be conducted by the PSA through the Social Sector Statistics Service, the rider questions on volunteer work in the May 2025 LFS aim to generate reliable data on volunteerism in the country. These data will support the assessment of the economic impact of volunteer work, providing policymakers and program managers with insights to shape policies and guidelines that promote civic engagement, voluntary participation, and innovative volunteer infrastructure. The rider questions are specifically designed and administered to capture relevant information on volunteer activities within the labor force.
The statistical activity will gather key data on the number of volunteers; types of voluntary activities; hours spent in voluntary activities; voluntary activity occupation; name and main activity of the organization; and any benefits received during volunteer activities, such as meals, small gifts, or money.
With a total budget allocation of PhP 4.7 million, the survey will cover 11,000 housing units, equivalent to one replicate.
Data collection is scheduled from the second to the fourth week of the survey month, while the release of the preliminary results is set 35 days after the completion of data collection.
The survey has been reviewed and cleared under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism implemented by the PSA pursuant to Rule 28 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625.
The SSRCS covers statistical surveys conducted and/or funded by government agencies, government-owned and/or -controlled corporations, and local government units. It aims to:
1. Ensure a sound design for data collection
2. Minimize the burden placed upon respondents
3. Effect economy in statistical data collection
4. Eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts
5. Achieve better coordination of government statistical activities
The PSA strongly encourages all sampled housing units to actively participate in the survey by providing accurate and truthful information for data-driven evaluation of volunteerism impact and policy development.
