The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are teaming up to conduct a series of institutional registration activities to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for delivery riders nationwide.

The partnership was formalized during a ceremonial institutional registration of riders who provide food and package delivery, and ride-hailing services. Spearheaded by PSA Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, and DTI Assistant Secretary Mary Jean Pacheco, the activity marks the beginning of an intensified nationwide effort to register riders to PhilSys through institutional registration activities with digital platform-based companies.

Through this initiative, riders can register by simply presenting their driver’s license as a supporting document for validation of demographic information, after which they can have their biometric information captured, which involves iris and fingerprint scanning.

Riders who have already registered to PhilSys may also claim their ePhilIDs through institutional registration activities.

“We, at the PSA, extend our many thanks to the DTI for the partnership we have forged to ensure coverage of delivery riders in the implementation of PhilSys,” said Usec. Mapa. “We look forward to registering our riders, along with more Filipinos from all walks of life, as we continue to carry out our mandate to realize an inclusive identification system.”

Registering riders is in line with the goal to prioritize the registration of social protection beneficiaries. For riders, this opens the opportunity for a more efficient process of availing the benefits of the Fuel Subsidy Program managed by the DTI. The PhilID and ePhilID can also be used for driver’s license renewal.

Meanwhile, the PSA continues to exert maximum effort to register more Filipinos. Walk-in registrations were recently fully implemented at PhilSys registration centers. Children 5 years old and above accompanied by their parents are also welcome to register.

For Filipinos residing in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), PSA field offices are continuously conducting mobile registration.

As of 14 April 2023, 78,066,229 Filipinos have already registered with PhilSys.
