The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) expressed support to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s commitment to fast-track the digital transformation in government services by implementing the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

"The National ID System will be at the core of this digitally transformed network of government services. It will fundamentally change the lives of each Filipino. At 87% total registration, we are now closer to establishing a complete, accurate, and reliable digital database of our own for the entire population," said President Marcos Jr. during his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) last 24 July 2023.

As of 14 July 2023, the PSA has reportedly registered more than 80 million individuals to PhilSys, while 35,156,030 PhilIDs and 38,874,524 printed ePhilIDs have also been successfully issued. PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General said that the PSA is exerting all efforts to ensure that no Filipino is left behind as the country undergoes continuous digital transformation.

"We will ensure that every Filipino shall be part of the Makabagong Pilipinas through the PhilSys. It is our hope that our kababayans will take part in this digital transformation. Hinihikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan na magparehistro na sa PhilSys at maging bahagi ng Bagong Pilipinas," said Usec. Mapa.

He also called for the support of government agencies in integrating the PhilSys into their services, especially the acceptance of the PhilID and the ePhilID.

"The PSA continues to work with government agencies for the use cases and acceptance of the PhilID and ePhilID. We look forward to working with more government agencies and private institutions that will champion easier and faster transactions by accepting the PhilID and ePhilID," he added.

Recently, the PSA and the Social Security System signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the adoption of PhilSys in social security services and transactions. Government agencies have also released their respective issuances supporting ePhilID acceptance, among which are the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Moreover, PSA has been working with the DSWD for the use of PhilSys registry for reliable identity verification for its social protection programs. These include the use of the PhilSys registry for the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan, and in piloting the Open Government-to-Person (OpenG2P) for its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
