The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The survey will be conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority on behalf of the BSP.

The CES is a household-based survey on the consumers’ assessment of their family income, financial situation, and the economic condition of the country. The major data items to be collected from this undertaking are as follows:

a. Demographic and economic characteristics
b. Economic and financial outlook
c. Key economic indicators
d. Buying conditions
e. Savings outlook
f. Debt situation
g. Account Ownership and Digital Payments

The survey will collect quarterly data from the 5,000 households across all regions in the country except Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). A total budget of PhP 23.7 million for four quarter rounds will be utilized for the preparatory activity, training, enumeration, supervision and data processing. The timetable of activities are as follows:

This survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;
  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins the public to support the CES by providing the required information to authorized PSA interviewers who will visit the households to conduct personal interview.
