The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) grants clearance for the conduct of the “July 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2024 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS) (July 2024 LFS/ 2024 APIS)”.

The 2024 APIS is a rider survey to the July 2024 LFS. This statistical undertaking aims to establish a quantitative framework for planning and policy formulation concerning the labor market, as well as providing estimates for non-income poverty indicators.

The major data items to be collected from the LFS include:
   1. Distribution of household population 15 years old and over, by employment status, by sex, and age group  
   2. Distribution of employed persons by major occupation group, major industry group, class of worker, number of hours worked, highest grade completed, nature of employment, and by sex 
   3. Distribution of underemployed persons by total hours worked, major occupation group, class of worker, and by sex 
   4. Distribution of unemployed persons by age group, highest grade completed, by number of weeks looking for work, job search method, and by sex

Similarly, the major data items to be collected from the APIS comprise:
   1. Owner-like possession of house and lot and the types of the materials of the roofs, walls of their housing units, and floor materials
   2. Type of toilet and handwashing facility they use in their homes, the main source of water supply, and source of drinking water
   3. Presence of electricity and ownership of household conveniences
   4. Use of the internet and online transactions
   5. Schooling status of 3 to 30 years old
   6. Family members, 6-11 years old enrolled in Grade 1 to Grade 6
   7. Family members, 12-17 years old enrolled in junior high school (Grade 7 to Grade 10)
   8. Educational assistance
   9. Health status of family members
   10. Availment of loan/s and its sources
   11. Availment of benefits from selected social protection program
   12. Perception of feeling safe in community and other institutions
   13. Access to government services
   14. Technical Vocational Education and Training
   15. Migration in the past five years
   16. Early Childhood Care and Development

This statistical undertaking will utilize a total budget of approximately PhP 77 million to cover 44,000 households nationwide. Data collection will be conducted from 08 to 31 July 2024. The publication of results for the LFS is scheduled for release in September 2024, and for the APIS in December 2024.

The statistical activity integrating the July 2024 LFS and 2024 APIS was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS). This mechanism is implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625 to:
   1. Ensure sound design for data collection
   2. Minimize the burden placed upon respondents 
   3. Effect economy in statistical data collection 
   4. Eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts 
   5. Achieve better coordination of government statistical activities

In line with this, the PSA encourages all sampled households to actively participate in this statistical endeavor by providing accurate and truthful information.
