The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by 193 member states of the United Nations in 2015, was described as a universal agenda that applies to and must be implemented by these countries. Sound metrics and data are critical for evidence-based planning and decision-making to deliver the Goals by 2030.

As part of the commitment of the Philippines to monitor the SDGs, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announces the release of the updated SDG Watch, which provides status on the progress of the Philippines in achieving the SDGs based on the initial list of Philippine SDG indicators. This can be accessed and downloaded in the PSA’s website at https://psa.gov.ph/sdg.

The March 2020 SDG Watch updated 94.0% or 78 indicators out of 83 indicators that are expected to have updates since the last updating of the SDG Watch in October 2019. This was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the member agencies in the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).

The following were the SDG data source agencies that provided updates and/or revisions:
  1. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas;
  2. Commission on Higher Education;
  3. Commission on Elections;
  4. Department of Agrarian Reform;
  5. Department of Budget and Management;
  6. Department of Education;
  7. Department of Energy;
  8. Department of Environment and Natural Resources;
  9. Department of Health;
  10. Department of the Interior and Local Government;
  11. Department of Science and Technology;
  12. Department of Social Welfare and Development;
  13. Food and Nutrition Research Institute;
  14. Department of Science and Technology;

  18. Philippine Commission on Women;
  19. Philippine National Police;
  20. Philippine Statistics Authority;

These updates in the SDG Watch will also be reflected in the PSA SDG Database at http://openstat.psa.gov.ph/Database/Sustainable-Development-Goals.
