The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) renewed the clearance for the conduct of the 2022 Palay Production Survey (PPS) and Corn Production Survey (CPS).

The 2022 PPS is a quarterly survey conducted by PSA that aims to generate estimates on palay production and area harvested covering a total of 23,800 (First Quarter), 21,640 (Second Quarter), 23,760 (Third Quarter), and 25,540 (Fourth Quarter) palay farming households in the Philippines. The survey will utilize a budget of PhP 29.2 million.

On the other hand, the 2022 CPS is a quarterly survey that aims to generate estimates on corn production and area harvested in the country.  A total budget of PhP 22.2 million will be utilized for the survey to cover 20,160 (First Quarter), 20,620 (Second Quarter), 23,400 (Third Quarter), and 22,260 (Fourth Quarter) corn farming households in the country.

The results of the PPS and CPS can be accessed at https://psa.gov.ph/sites/default/files/Palay%20and%20Corn%20Quarterly%20...

Meanwhile, both surveys will be undertaken during the first ten (10) days of April, July, October, and December 2022. Results of the PPS and CPS are scheduled to be released 40 days after the reference quarter as prescribed in the System of Designated Statistics.

The 2022 PPS and CPS were reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;
  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins palay and corn farming households across the country to support and participate in said survey by providing the information needed to authorized PSA interviewers who will visit the palay and corn farming households to conduct a personal interview.

For further information on SSRCS, please contact the Statistical Standards Division of the Standards Service with telephone numbers (02) 376-1928 and (02) 376-1931, and email addresses ssd.staff@psa.gov.ph or ssdss.staff@gmail.com.
