The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) warns the public against pages spreading fake news on social media, with posts falsely claiming the following:

  1. There is ayuda or cash assistance for National ID holders; and
  2. National ID processing can be facilitated online in exchange for a fee.

The PSA reiterates that it does not distribute any cash assistance to registered persons or holders of the National ID whether in card, paper, or digital format. 

Further, only the PSA is authorized to register individuals to the National ID system, free of any charge. It involves capturing biometric information such as iris and fingerprint scanning, which requires personal appearance before an authorized registration personnel from the PSA and cannot be done online.

In addition, individuals or groups offering such activities are not authorized by or related to PSA.

We urge the public to be cautious and to refrain from sharing false information about the National ID being posted on various social media sites.
