Q1 2019 GDP growth rate still at 5.6 percent, after changes in growth of industries were noted

The first quarter 2019 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate was maintained at 5.6 percent although revisions in the growth of economic sectors were noted.

Services and Agriculture were revised down from 7.0 percent to 6.8 percent and from 0.8 percent to 0.7 percent, respectively. On the other hand, Industry was revised upward from 4.4 percent to 4.8 percent.

Net Primary Income (NPI) from the rest of the world and Gross National Income (GNI) had corresponding upward revisions from 1.9 percent to 3.2 percent and from 4.9 percent to 5.2 percent.

The PSA revises the GDP estimates based on an approved revision policy (PSA Board Resolution No. 1, Series of 2017-053) which is consistent with international standard practices on national accounts revisions.
