The annual gain in the Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) was pegged at 1.0 percent in April. Last month, it was recorded at 1.2 percent. The annual hike in masonry materials index in April was 3.9 percent; tinsmithry materials index, 1.9 percent; carpentry materials and electrical materials indices, 1.3 percent; and painting materials and related compounds index, 0.1 percent. On the contrary, annual declines were seen in the plumbing materials index at -0.4 percent and in miscellaneous construction materials index, -3.4 percent.

Month-on-Month
Measured from a month ago level, the CMRPI in NCR inched up 0.1 percent in April. The index of electrical materials in April increased by 0.7 percent and carpentry and plumbing materials indices, 0.1 percent. However, the indices of miscellaneous construction materials decreased by 1.0 percent and painting materials and related compounds and tinsmithry materials, -0.1 percent. The masonry materials index had a zero growth.
Price increments were noticed in plywood, nails, cement, selected plumbing fixtures and fittings and electrical wires and wiring devices. Meanwhile, lower price quotations were observed in corrugated GI sheets and steel bars.
