Annual increase of CMRPI in NCR decelerates further in July 2019
The annual gain of Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) eased further to 0.9 percent in July 2019. Higher annual rates were recorded in June 2019 at 1.0 percent and in July 2018 at 2.5 percent. Slower annual increments during the month were registered in the indices of electrical materials at 0.3 percent; plumbing materials, 0.5 percent; tinsmithry materials, 0.9 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 1.0 percent. On the other hand, higher annual mark-ups were observed in the indices of masonry materials at 1.9 percent and painting materials and related compounds at 1.2 percent. Carpentry materials index retained its previous month’s annual rate of 1.0 percent (see Table 2).
Retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR are generally stable in July 2019
The CMRPI in NCR slightly increased by 0.05 percent in July 2019. In June 2019, it dropped by 0.5 percent. The indices of carpentry materials inched up by 0.02 percent; masonry materials and painting materials and related compounds at 0.3 percent; plumbing materials, 0.04 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 0.1 percent. On the contrary, the indices of electrical materials and miscellaneous construction materials fell by 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively (see Table 3).
Higher prices during the month were posted in lumber, plywood, common wire nails, gravel, sand, hollow blocks and paints. Prices of corrugated G.I. sheets also went up during the month. Meanwhile, prices of electrical wires, cement and steel bars went down during the period.
