The annual increment of the Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) further slowed down to 1.0 percent in May 2017. It picked up by 1.5 percent in April 2017 and in May 2016. The annual rate of carpentry materials index declined by 0.3 percent. Moreover, slower annual gains were posted in the indices of the following commodity groups:

  • Electrical Materials (1.2%)
  • Masonry Materials (0.7%)
  • Painting Materials and Related Compounds (0.6%)
  • Plumbing Materials (2.0%)
  • Miscellaneous Construction Materials (5.7%)

Meanwhile, a higher annual growth of 1.1 percent was observed in tinsmithry materials. (Table 2)

Month-on-Month

The CMRPI in NCR registered zero growth in May 2017. It inched up by 0.1 percent in the previous month.

All the commodity groups recorded a zero growth during the month except in the indices of masonry materials and tinsmithry materials. The tinsmithry materials index went up by 0.2 percent while that for the masonry materials index dropped by 0.1 percent. (Table 3)
