Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) at the National Capital Region (NCR) picks up by 2.3 percent in October 2018
The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR went up by 2.3 percent in October 2018. Its annual growth in September 2018 was posted at 2.0 percent and in October 2017, 1.4 percent. Higher annual increases were recorded in the indices of the following commodity groups:
- Carpentry Materials (3.3%)
- Electrical Materials (1.6%)
- Masonry Materials (3.8%) and
- Tinsmithry Materials (2.0%).
On the other hand, the annual increment in the indices of plumbing materials slowed down to 1.2 percent and miscellaneous construction materials, 3.2 percent while that for painting materials and related compound index remained at 0.7 percent (see Table 2).
Month-on-Month
CMRPI at NCR exhibits a higher monthly rate in October 2018
Measured from a month ago level, the CMRPI in NCR inched up by 0.3 percent in October 2018. From zero percent, the indices of masonry materials rose by 2.0 percent; plumbing materials, 0.1 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 0.4 percent. Likewise, a minimal increase of 0.03 percent was noted in painting materials and related compound index. However, the increase in electrical materials index eased to 0.1 percent while the indices of carpentry materials and miscellaneous construction materials moved at their previous month’s rate of 0.1 percent (see Table 3).
Higher prices during the month were observed in plywood, common wire nails, electrical wires, PVC pipe, cement, sand, gravel, G.I. pipes and G.I. elbow.
